Much has been written and said about dinosaurs, but how much is known about those that inhabited the territory of present-day Uruguay?

Land of Dinosaurs. Fearsome Animals that Lived in Uruguay is a different book about dinosaurs, because it arises from Uruguayan research linked to these animals, until now unpublished for children. At present we know that the main groups of dinosaurs had their representatives in these lands: carnivores and herbivores, large and small, terrible and peaceful. These unique animals lived in these latitudes in different landscapes and climates, for millions of years, until the time of extinction. Other living beings coexisted with them and also left their mark on the national territory.

Unlike the desert areas of Argentina where large bones and almost complete dinosaur skeletons are found, Uruguayan research is based on small remains of bones, eggs, teeth and footprints. One of the most important discoveries in recent times is the dinosaur footprints found in Tacuarembó, in the town of Cuchilla del Ombú, which has provided important information on the subject.

This book, like the previous ones in the collection, is based on an own investigation, in this case carried out by the paleontologist Matías Soto, a specialist in dinosaurs. The creation of the story of Sofía and Lucas and the writing of the texts are in charge of Silvia Soler, while the illustrations belong to Pantana (Sebastián Santana) and Renzo Vayra.

In Dinosaur Land, the illustrations arise from the joint work of paleontologist Soto with the artists, so that the drawings reflect scientific knowledge.
