I was probably fourteen years old. It was daytime and I was lying in bed looking at the ceiling of my room. I was dreaming of the trips I would take when I grew up: jungles, savannahs, mountains, deserts, rivers and the sea. Suddenly I smiled, no words were thought out, I was simply overcome by the sweet certainty of feeling that my future was being revealed to me. Somehow I knew that I would take such trips, and I would almost say that I saw scenes of them. I grew up a while ago and now I cannot stop believing that sometimes knowledge can indeed be revealed.

In this book, Juan C. Gambarotta Gerona, Uruguay's first park ranger and author of From Backpacker to Park Ranger, tells us about his various adventures in the different regions of the world that he had the opportunity to visit. Through his stories, he brings us closer to wonderful places in South Africa, Mozambique, Kenya, Uganda, Poland, Costa Rica, Brazil, Australia, New Zealand, among many others, and tells us about their geography, fauna, flora and people, each with its own particular characteristics, as well as about the tireless work carried out in these places to conserve nature.

Gambarotta paints the exterior landscapes and his experiences in such a way that he manages to bring us closer to remote parts of the world and make us feel that we have been able to get to know those places and their people through his experiences.
